- Where was Satan initially?
- Where is Satan now?
- Is Satan alone?
- What is God's plan to punish Satan?
Satan / Devil / Serpent / Dragon
- Who is Satan? What is his role?
- Satan means "adversary." like
roaring lion looking to
devour believers:
- 1 Peter 5:8 - 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your
adversary the devil walks about like a
roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.
- Satan was Cherub means high
ranking angel
served God around the throne in Heaven.
- Ezekiel 28:14,15a - 14 "You
were the anointed cherub who covers; I
established you; You were on the holy mountain
of God; You walked back and forth in the midst
of fiery stones. 15
You were perfect in your ways from the day you
were created,...
- Satan was called Lucifer, which means "brightness";
he also is compared to the "morning star"
(NIV Is 14:12).
- Isaiah 14:12 - "How you are fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations!
- NIV: Isaiah 14:12 - How you have fallen from heaven,
O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!
- Paul reminds us that Satan
comes and deceive people as Angel of Light.
- 2 Cor 11:14 - And no wonder!
For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.
- He is called Serpent who
deceive and lie people.
- Rev 12:9
- So the great dragon was cast out,
that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
- Gen 3:1-15 - 1 Now
the serpent was
more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, 'You shall not eat of every tree of the garden'?"
2 And
the woman said to the serpent,
- He is called Dragon means serpent or
sea monster who
persecute believers:
- Rev 12:9
- So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and
Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
- Rev 12:13
- Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he
persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child.
- He is called the Devil and
it means "accuser," who
tempted Jesus and people, he is a liar
and murderer.
- Rev 12:9
- So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called
the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
- Matt 4:1 - Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be
tempted by the devil
- John 8:44 - 42 Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. 43 Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word.
44 You are of your father
the devil, and
the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a
lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a
liar and the
father of it.
- He is called as Accuser of our Brethren, who accuses
believers before our God day and night.
- Rev 12:10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the
accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.
-
Zechariah 3:1-2 - 1 Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the Angel of the Lord, and
Satan standing at his right hand to oppose him. 2 And the Lord said to Satan, "The Lord rebuke you, Satan! The Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?" 3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and was standing before the Angel. 4 Then He answered and spoke to those who stood before Him, saying, "Take away the filthy garments from him." And to him He said, "See, I have removed your iniquity from you, and I will clothe you with rich robes." 5 And I said, "Let them put a clean turban on his head." So they put a clean turban on his head, and they put the clothes on him. And the Angel of the Lord stood by.
- Job 1:6-12 - 6
Now there was a day when the
sons of God came to present
themselves before the Lord, and
Satan also came among them.
7 And the Lord said to Satan,
"From where do you come?" So
Satan answered the Lord and
said, "From going to and fro on
the earth, and from walking back
and forth on it."
8
Then the Lord said to Satan,
"Have you considered My servant
Job, that there is none like him
on the earth, a blameless and
upright man, one who fears God
and shuns evil?"
9
So Satan answered the Lord and
said, "Does Job fear God for
nothing? 10
Have You not made a hedge around
him, around his household, and
around all that he has on every
side? You have blessed the work
of his hands, and his
possessions have increased in
the land. 11
But now, stretch out Your hand
and touch all that he has, and
he will surely curse You to Your
face!"
12
And the Lord said to Satan,
"Behold, all that he has is in
your power; only do not lay a
hand on his person." So Satan
went out from the presence of
the Lord.
- He is also called as Ruler of this World, Prince of the power of the air.
- Eph 2:2 - 1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,
2 in which you once walked according to
the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air,
the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,
3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
- NLT: Eph2:2
- 1 Once you were dead, doomed forever because of your many sins.
2 You used to live just like the rest of the world,
full of sin, obeying Satan, the mighty prince of the power of the air. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.
3 All of us used to live that way, following the passions and desires of our evil nature. We were born with an evil nature, and we were under God's anger just like everyone else
- NIV: Eph 2:2
- 1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,
2 in which you used to live when you
followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.
3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath
- Luke 4:5-7
- 5 Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain,
showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
6 And the devil said to Him, "All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish.
7 Therefore,
if You will worship before me, all will be Yours."
8 And Jesus answered and said to him, "Get behind Me, Satan!
For it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.' "
- John 14:30 - 25 "These things I have spoken to you while being present with you.
26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
28 You have heard Me say to you, 'I am going away and coming back to you.' If you loved Me, you would rejoice because I said, 'I am going to the Father,' for My Father is greater than I.
29 And now I have told you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe.
30 I will no longer talk much with you, for
the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.
31 But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave Me commandment, so I do. Arise, let us go from here.

word of the Lord came to me,
saying, 12
"Son of man, take up a
lamentation for the king of Tyre,
and say to him, 'Thus says the
Lord God: "You were the seal of

- Isaiah 14:12-15
- 12 "How
you are fallen from heaven, O
Lucifer, son of the morning!
How you are cut down to
the ground, You who
weakened the nations!
13 For you
have said in your heart: 'I will
ascend into heaven, I
will exalt my throne above the
stars of God; I will
also sit on the mount of the
congregation On the farthest
sides of the north; 14 I will
ascend above the heights of the

14:12-15 - 12 How
you have fallen from heaven,
O morning star,
son of the dawn! You have been
cast down to the earth,
you who once laid low the
nations! 13
You said in your heart, "I will
ascend to heaven; I will raise
my throne above the stars of
God; I will sit enthroned on the
mount of assembly, on the utmost
heights of the sacred mountain.
14 I
will ascend above the tops of
the clouds; I will make myself
like the Most High."
15 But you are
brought down to the grave, to
the depths of the pit.
- NLT: Isaiah
14:12-16 - 5 For
the LORD has crushed your wicked
power and broken your evil rule.
6 You
persecuted the people with
unceasing blows of rage and held
the nations in your angry grip.
Your tyranny was unrestrained.
7 But
at last the land is at rest and
is quiet. Finally it can sing
again! 8
Even the trees of the forest --
the cypress trees and the cedars
of Lebanon -- sing out this
joyous song: 'Your power is
broken! No one will come to cut
us down now!' 9
"In the place of the dead there
is excitement over your arrival.
World leaders and mighty kings
long dead are there to see you.
10
With one voice they all cry out,
'Now you are as weak as we are!
11
Your might and power are gone;
they were buried with you. All
the pleasant music in your
palace has ceased. Now maggots
are your sheet and worms your

"How you are fallen from
heaven, O shining star, son of
the morning! You have been
thrown down to the earth,
you who destroyed the nations of
the world. 13
For you said to yourself, 'I
will ascend to heaven and set my
throne above God's stars. I will
preside on the mountain of the
gods far away in the north.
14 I
will climb to the highest
heavens and be like the Most
High.' 15
But instead, you will be brought down to the place of the
dead, down to its lowest depths.
16
Everyone there will stare at you
and ask, 'Can this be the one
who shook the earth and the
kingdoms of the world?
17 Is this the
one who destroyed the world and
made it into a wilderness? Is
this the king who demolished the
world's greatest cities and had
no mercy on his prisoners?'
- Luke 10:18 - 17
Then the seventy returned with
joy, saying, "Lord, even the
demons are subject to us in Your
name." 18
And He said to them, "I
saw Satan fall like lightning
from heaven.
19 Behold, I
give you the authority to
trample on serpents and
scorpions, and over all the
power of the enemy, and nothing
shall by any means hurt you.
20
Nevertheless do not rejoice in
this, that the spirits are
subject to you, but rather
rejoice because your names are
written in heaven."
- Job 1:6-12 - 6
Now there was a day when the
sons of God came to present

Satan also came among them.

went out from the presence of
the Lord.
- Is Satan alone?
- No. Satan is not alone while fall from heaven one third of angels came with him
or followed his path. These are called evil spirits, demons,
fallen angels...
- One of the names for Satan is
Lucifer, which means "brightness";
he also is compared to the "morning star"
(NIV Is 14:12). Paul reminds us that Satan
comes and deceive people as angel of light.
- 2 Cor 11:14 - And no wonder!
For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.
- Rev 12:4-5 -
3 And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red
dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads.
4 His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born.
- Rev 12:7-9 - 7 And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the
dragon and his angels fought,
8 but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer.
9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
- What is God's plan to punish Satan?
- God started this process from the day he lifted himself above
God....
As a result of Satan's sin he lost his
privileges in Heaven and fallen from
heaven to earth.
- Isaiah 14:12-15
- 12 "How

- God cursed Satan on the day he
deceived Eve and Adam.
- Gen 3:14,15 - 12 Then the man said, "The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate."
13 And the Lord God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?" The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate."
14 So the Lord God said to the serpent: "Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life.
15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel."
- God Judged Satan on the cross
so he has no control over the believers in
Christ - John 16:11.
- John 16:11 - 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.
8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 of sin, because they do not believe in Me;
10 of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more;
11 of judgment, because
the ruler of this world is judged.
- This was foretold in
Gen 3:15 - 14 So the Lord God said to the serpent: "Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life.
15 And I will put
enmity Between you and the woman, And
between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel."
- So, Satan has no power over the
believers.
- Col 2:13-15 - 13 And you, being
dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has
made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses,
14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having
nailed it to the cross.
15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
- NLT: Col 2:13-15 - 13 You were
dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then
God made you alive with Christ. He forgave all our sins.
14 He canceled the record that contained the charges against us. He took it and
destroyed it by nailing it to Christ's cross.
15 In this way, God disarmed the evil rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross of Christ.
- God will throw away Satan completely from Heaven
at the beginning of last 3.5 years before Jesus
2nd coming.
- Due to this Satan
took revenge against God
and try to persecute Jewish
believers in Christ -
Rev 12:6,13-17.
- Rev 12:6
- Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days.
- Rev 12:13-17
-
13 Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth,
he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child.
14 But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent.
15 So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood.
16 But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth.
17 And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
- Satan gives his full
authority to Antichrist
and False Prophet
and gather people in this earth
to fight against God when He
comes to rule and reign this
earth.
Satan and his team feed the nations
anger and gather these angry
nations to fight against God at
the great battle of Armageddon.
Here the human army are
possessed by evil spirits
(demons). As in Eph
2:2
they will obey like slave to
Satan.
- Rev 16:12-16 -
12
Then the sixth
angel poured out
his bowl on the
great river
Euphrates, and
its water was
dried up, so
that the way of
the kings from
the east might
be prepared.
13
And I saw three
unclean spirits
like frogs
coming out of
the mouth of the
dragon, out of
the mouth of the
beast, and out
of the mouth of
the false
prophet.
14
For they are
spirits of
demons,
performing
signs, which go
out to the kings
of the earth and
of the whole
world, to gather
them to the
battle of that
great day of God
Almighty.
15
"Behold, I am
coming as a
thief. Blessed
is he who
watches, and
keeps his
garments, lest
he walk naked
and they see his
shame."
16
And they gathered them
together to the
place called in
Hebrew,
Armageddon.
- God punish Antichrist and
False Prophet once Jesus enters this earth
in His 2nd coming.
Satan and his
team try to fight
against our Almighty God
Jesus Christ. But
Jesus destroy them by
His word that proceeds from His
mouth.
- Rev 19:17-21 -
17
Then I saw an
angel standing
in the sun; and
he cried with a
loud voice,
saying to all
the birds that
fly in the midst
of heaven, "Come
and gather
together for the
supper of the
great God,
18
that you may eat
the flesh of
kings, the flesh
of captains, the
flesh of mighty
men, the flesh
of horses and of
those who sit on
them, and the
flesh of all
people, free and
slave, both
small and
great."
19
And I saw
the beast, the
kings of the
earth, and their
armies, gathered
together to make
war against Him
who sat on the
horse and
against His
army.
20
Then the beast
was captured,
and with him the
false prophet
who worked signs
in his presence,
by which he
deceived those
who received the
mark of the
beast and those
who worshiped
his image. These
two were cast
alive into the
lake of fire
burning with
brimstone.
21
And the
rest
were killed with
the sword which
proceeded from
the mouth of Him
who sat on the
horse.
And all the
birds were
filled with
their flesh.
- God bound Satan and throw him in the
bottomless pit (Abyss) for 1000 years.
- Rev 20:1-3 - 1 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
2 He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years;
3 and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.
- Finally after Millennial reign Satan
will be punished eternally by throwing
him into the Lake of Fire or Hell
which was especially prepared for Satan and his
angels.
- Rev 20:10 - 7 Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison
8 and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea.
9 They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them.
10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be
tormented day and night forever and ever.
- Matt 25:41 - Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the
